a field log of transmission towers

Notes on the steel giants along the dykes and polders.

This is a small hobby log. On weekend walks I note down high-voltage pylons: their shape, the line they carry and anything odd about them. Nothing technical, just a record of what's out there.

13 SepFlevoland, A6 corridorLong straight run of lattice towers, every one identical. Very satisfying.
30 AugOutskirts of EindhovenOne of the newer "Wintrack" tubular pylons. Looks like two white needles.
16 AugZeeland coastOld Danube-type tower, three crossarms, salt rust on the lower legs.

Types I keep seeing

Danube. Two crossarms, the upper one shorter. The most common shape on older lines.
Barrel. Three crossarms stacked, wider in the middle.
Tubular. Smooth poles instead of lattice, used on newer lines near towns.

About

No photos of fenced sites, no climbing, always from public paths. If you spot a tower you think belongs here, feel free to drop a note.
